Why hello again,
I know it has been awhile but I have got to be honest, I haven't missed you. Please don't take it personally but life gets so busy and so complicated sometimes that blogging takes a back burner to the back burners. Know what I mean? Plus, in reality most of you stay in touch and the ones who don't see my life on facebook. Gotta love that facebook. Anyway, 2012 has been a difficult year. And I don't think just for me but for a lot of people around me as well. I feel like this dark cloud has been hovering over this year and I sincerely hope it gets washed away in the spring rain (or snow) that is bound to be heading our way.
I started of this year with sinus surgery. I really thought it would be the end all to my frequent sinus infections. However, I got a post operative infection that lasted over a month. I was on 7 different antibiotics in 6 months. I was/have been really sick. I've got to be honest, too, I am not sure the infection is completely gone. But.... I don't have to swallow bottles of tylenol to keep comfortable, sleep upright with ice on my face, and I don't have to worry about sinus infections as much (so they tell me). It was a really horrible January-Febraury.
Somewhere in between that garbage my grandmother was in the hospital for 3-4 days while visiting phoenix, we had to pay a plumber to fix a busted pipe, I missed more work than I care to talk about, and other misc hardships that don't bare mentioning. Crumming, huh? But like I said it wasn't just me either... It seems like everyone I have talked to is having a really rough go of things. Whether it be financially, physically, spiritually, emotionally: loved ones dying, losing jobs, losing homes, physical aliments. The list goes on and on. We definitely need to shake this funk.
I have been keeping busy around the house. Daniel and I finished Rushton's room and it might just be my favorite room in my house. It just screams BOY! And BOY oh boy does he love it! Rushton is getting so big! He is two going on 42 and growing like a weed by every definition of the word. He is talking up a storm (even calls Daniel "danny" HA), he uses the toilet, runs, SKIPS, jumps, crawls, throws dirt... eats dirt, loves dogs, bike rides, hitting things with sticks, pointing out his body parts, eating gummies and noodles (he'd even eat them together), throwing temper tantrums that rival any other, pointing at the moon and stars, reading books, and simply being amazing. We just can't get enough of our adorable boy.
We also started on the office. Daniel and I have been quite handy despite our lack of knowledge pertaining to all things DIY. We built a floating desk, some shelves, painted perfect horizontal strips, spray painted, stained... yes, We've done it all. It's not done in there but definitely a spot worthy of blogging to you, friends. Other things around the house have included making homemade house cleaners, clearing the garden, acquiring a chicken coop (yes we are getting 4 chickens), investing in some comfortable and much needed lounge chairs, and clearing out winter in a happy-gitty anticipation for SPRING! And really, spring could not come soon enough. I am so glad the 21" of snow we got in only 36hours is completely melted. I wanted to die at the thought of that much snow in March. I wonder if I will always be a phoenix girl at heart?
Daniel is still alive and kickin' trash in nursing school ;o) I can't wait until he is done. Then maybe we can be husband and wife and not so much roommates! He is such an amazing support to me and such a good father to Rushton. I really feel like I would be a million pieces on the floor if it weren't for his love. I am so blessed to have such an amazing man in my life. As my HUSBAND! Jack pot.
So I guess I write with nothing of importance to say other than I hope you've found 2012 treating you better than these Opfels. I have faith things will turn around but until then I will try to be better at writing. No guarantees as you never know where life is going to take you next...
Laura
